Frequently Asked Questions About DDD

What’s DDD and who qualifies?

DDD stands for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. It’s a program run by the state of New Jersey that provides funding and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. To qualify, your loved one must be a New Jersey resident, age 21 or older, and meet certain medical and functional criteria.

Can I be paid to care for my son/daughter?

Yes—under certain DDD programs, family members or even friends can become paid caregivers for their loved ones. Summit can guide you through the eligibility and enrollment process to see if this option is right for your situation.

How do I know what my budget is?

Your DDD budget is determined by the NJ Comprehensive Assessment Tool (NJ CAT). If you're unsure how much you're eligible for—or whether you’re using it fully—we offer a free budget review to help you find out.

Do I need to change my current support coordinator?

Not at all. We regularly work with families who already have a support coordinator. Our services complement their work, helping you take full advantage of what your loved one qualifies for.

I don’t have a support coordinator yet. Can I still get started with Summit?

Absolutely. You don’t need to have a support coordinator in place to reach out. If you're eligible for DDD services, Summit can help guide you through the process, including connecting you with a support coordinator and getting everything set up. We're here to support you from day one.
